Blind School




A new project for visually handicapped started in the institution from 1992-93. This school and hostel was inaugurated by the chairman of the institution Shri Ram Prasad Ladha on Gandhi Jayanti - 2nd October 1992 in a simple function. In the year 1992-93 admission were given to 13 children of the age of 4 to 14 years. Presently 20 boys and girls are studying.

BUILDING


Foundation of school building was laid down on 22 Oct. 1992 . In the year 1993-94, craft room and other three classrooms have been completed. Office block, 6 classrooms. toilet block and library hall have been constructed in the memory of Late Seth Murlidhar Mansinghka by the financial aid of Rs 17.5 Lac presented by Shri M. P. Mansinghka Charity.

FACILITIES IMPARTED TO THE STUDENTST


  • Day-scholars are offered Rs 175/- per month as traveling allowance by the ministry of social welfare.
  • Concession for train and bus traveling facility is provided by the institution by organizing Awareness Camps for detection of Disability
    & appropriate certificates are given to them.
  • No fee is charged from the parents or guardians of the students in the school. In other words, free education is imparted to them.
  • Tape recorders are used for the study of blind students
  • Free health check-up by the doctor from time to time and required proper treatments are given to them.
  • The institution has its own bus for reaching children from home to the school to and fro from surrounding area of 15 k.m.
  • Day-scholars are provided monthly scholarships by the social welfare department Rs 40/- upto class 4 and Rs 50/- above class 5.
  • For their entertainment & education, TV, VCR, VCD are used to show cultural films for their social and intellectual development.





VOCATIONAL TRAINING


To ensure that the students graduating from the school acquire jobs or self employment opportunities

  3. Canning


Braille typewriters are availed to the blind students to learn typing & can get job. For Music part time music teacher is provided to them. All types of musical instruments like Tabla, Harmonium, guitar, violin etc. are also available.

SIGHT GAIN BY SPECIAL TREATMENT


When the health check up of the Sur Nilyam students was going on, the eye surgeon told that some of the students can gain sight by the operation. The institution, by the consent of their parents, the operation was performed on (1) Jamaluddin (2) Ram Prasad (3) Paras Sharma (4) Nand Kishore by which they gained short sight. Besides this Eye Transplantation of Om Prakash Bunkar & Bannalal Bairwa was performed with the help of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Bhilwara. Newly Rahul Gusar & Pooja Gusar was also performed an eye transplantation and gained short sight.
